Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities
Operational Excellence
Administrative Duties
-
Complete all company and legal documentation required for duty and submit copies to the Operations Manager for filing.
-
Ensure hospital records are completed according to internal requirements when patients are delivered to emergency or casualty units.
-
Accurately complete electronic Patient Report Forms (E-PRFs) for every patient treated.
-
Complete all required paperwork for overtime and leave.
-
Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the Operations Manager.
Quality Improvement
-
Maintain quality assurance standards and data integrity.
-
Respond to emergencies when requested and administer Advanced Life Support (ALS) treatment in line with HPCSA protocols.
-
Log all calls with the Netcare 911 Call Centre and obtain a case number for each incident attended.
-
Ensure daily cleanliness of the station and proper stock control, with immediate replacement after calls where possible.
-
Attend Continuous Medical Education (CME) training to maintain CPD compliance.
-
Participate in community projects when required.
-
Remain updated on HPCSA treatment protocol changes and ensure compliance.
-
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Vehicle and Equipment Management
-
Ensure effective control and management of all departmental equipment.
-
Conduct detailed vehicle and equipment checks before each shift using Geopal and report discrepancies.
-
Maintain daily cleanliness of vehicles and equipment, including weekly deep cleaning.
-
Ensure all equipment is functional and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines.
-
Prevent loss or damage of equipment and report any losses or theft immediately.
-
Maintain rechargeable equipment and batteries.
-
Keep equipment checklists and drug registers updated and accurate.
Health and Safety
-
Ensure full compliance with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
-
Report all injuries sustained on duty immediately to the Operations Manager and Call Centre.
-
Maintain neat and tidy public areas at Netcare 911 premises.
-
Practice safe and considerate driving at all times.
-
Ensure scenes are safe before approach and manage risks according to emergency care training.
-
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
-
Report any unusual or significant incidents to management immediately.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Respond to emergency calls within one minute and non-emergency calls within three minutes, unless otherwise communicated to the call centre.

Act as a brand ambassador by displaying compassion, empathy, and professionalism.

Handover patients to hospital staff according to protocol.
-
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, including after death.

Current HPCSA registration as a Paramedic (CCA / National Diploma EMC / Diploma EMC)

Current ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
Work Experience
Preferred:

1–4 years post-graduate patient care experience in an operational environment
